Ford will bring some Hollywood flair into the reveal of its Mustang-inspired electric SUV, announcing their partnership with movie star Idris Elba.

Elba will be the one to reveal the upcoming Mustang-inspired electric SUV, which is reportedly going to adopt the Mach-E moniker, on November 17 during a special event ahead of the LA Auto Show.

The electric SUV will ride on a new EV-specific platform and become available in both rear- and all-wheel drive versions with varying power outputs and different battery sizes. Ford promises a driving range of up to 300 miles (EPA), or 370 miles on the WLTP cycle.

The exterior design of the battery-electric SUV will be heavily inspired by the company’s signature pony car, as portrayed so far by the official teasers and a set of allegedly leaked CAD drawings. The model will feature strong character lines on the sides, a sloping hood and even headlights and taillights that mimic those of the Mustang.

As for Idris Elba, this isn’t the first time the famous actor gets involved with Ford. “Most people don’t know this, but I worked at Ford as a young guy,” he said. “My dad also worked at Ford. It’s practically in my blood. So working on this project and getting behind the wheel of a car that takes us all towards the future feels like things are coming full circle, but with more exhilaration and tech.”

Buyers of the electric Mustang-inspired SUV will also be offered two years of free charging, with sales expected to launch in late 2020.
