Fresh off securing the first podium place for the McLaren Formula One team since the 2014 Australian Grand Prix at last weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix, Spaniard Carlos Sainz took delivery of his new ride: a custom McLaren 600LT Spider.
The racer took delivery of the hardcore supercar at the McLaren Technology Center and shared images of it on Instagram, revealing that he specced it out to his personal preferences.
We’ve seen a number of brightly-colored McLaren 600LTs hit the roads since the deliveries commenced, but Sainz went for a more subtle design, opting for a shade of dark silver that appears to have some metallic green flakes in it. Contrasting the paint are a set of bright orange brake calipers and alloy wheels with gloss black and silver spokes.

Moving to the interior, we can see that the F1 ace opted for the available carbon fiber bucket seats originally developed for the hardcore Senna. His car also includes orange seatbelts to match the brake calipers.
To say that Sainz had an eventful weekend over in Brazil would be an understatement. Due to a power unit failure in qualifying, he started Sunday’s race in last place on the grid and was one of just a handful of drivers to make a one-stop pit strategy work. He ultimately crossed the finish line in fourth place, but due to a post-race penalty handed down to Lewis Hamilton, was promoted up to third.
Powering the 600LT Spider is a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 out 582 HP (600 PS) and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) of torque, allowing it to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 2.8 seconds and 124 mph (200 km/h) in 8.4 seconds.
