The Mercedes-Maybach lineup is growing as the company will introduce an ultra-luxurious version of the latest GLS at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
Set to debut on November 21st, the model will follow in the footsteps of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. As a result, the crossover will feature unique styling inside and out.
The company is keeping details under wraps, but a newly released teaser image confirms the model will have a unique grille with vertical slats and “Maybach” branding. The GLS will also come equipped with a hood ornament and that’s noteworthy as they’ve been absent from previous crossovers.

Of course, the hood ornament shouldn’t be too surprising as one was installed on the Vision Maybach Ultimate Luxury concept. Mercedes seemingly referenced that model today as they said the teaser image shows the “new face of ultimate luxury.”
Previous spy photos have shown the GLS will also have a unique rear bumper and repositioned reflectors. These minor changes will be accompanied by massive wheels, a modified dual exhaust system and plenty of Maybach badging.
Bigger changes will occur in the cabin as the comfort of rear seat passengers will be of the upmost importance. In order to cater to these wealthy individuals, the model will have power adjustable second-row executive seats which are separated by a center console. There should also be premium leather upholstery, additional wood trim and Maybach-branded accents. Other rear seat amenities should include individual climate controls and 7-inch MBUX tablets.
Front seat occupants won’t be forgotten as the Maybach GLS should come fully loaded. As a result, we can expect a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment system and heated / cooled cup holders. Other highlights could include a Burmester premium audio system, an Air Balance system and heated, ventilated and massaging seats.
Engine options will be announced shortly, but power will likely be a provided by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that features EQ Boost technology.
