Unless you’ve been living under a rock these past few months, you probably know everything there is to know about the all-new 2020 Corvette Stingray, including its sensational 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds.

But the “base” Stingray is just the beginning and things can only get more interesting from here. Next in line is the Corvette Z06, the performance model rumored to pack around 800 horsepower from a 5.5-liter V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft. Little else is known about the mid-engined Corvette Z06 but now we can show you the first official sketch of the interior.

The rendering gives us the first look at what Chevy designers have in mind for the next Z06. The image comes from a batch of sketches Chevrolet provided to Roadshow to detail the C8 Corvette’s design process. Authored by General Motors Interior Design Manager Tristan Murphy, it’s described by GM as “an early render of a potential interior” for the C8 Corvette Z06.

This means it could be one of many proposals for the mid-engined Corvette Z06’s interior that may or may not be selected in the end. Mind you, there’s a good chance the finished item will look like this given the many similarities to the Corvette Stingray’s interior. Those include the gauge cluster, steering wheel, infotainment screen, long strip of driver and passenger function buttons, as well as the gear selector buttons.

So what’s different about the Corvette Z06 interior compared to the 2020 Stingray? For starters, there’s a big Z06 badge at the bottom of the steering wheel which features lots of carbon fiber. Then there’s a mysterious “ARM” acronym selected in the gauge cluster we’d like to know what it stands for. We also don’t know what the big red button on the steering wheel with “Spec Mode” printed on it is for.

Both could be real features or just products of the designer’s imagination in his task to make the C8 Corvette Z06’s cockpit look as realistic as possible. It will take a while before we learn if this rendering is anything to go by as the next Z06 is expected to debut sometime in late 2021 as a 2022 model.
