Back in 2005, Lamborghini unveiled the Concept S at the Geneva Motor Show. The brainchild of the era’s design chief Luc Donckerwolke and Centro Stile Lamborghini is an extreme interpretation of the Gallardo, with a unique open-top view of the sky above.
Since it received a lot of interest from the public, the Italian automaker decided to go ahead and make a limited edition. 100 cars were supposed to see the light of day, yet due to the high production costs, assembly ended after only one was made. The only Concept S out there was delivered to its owner and then invited a few times to several events by the Raging Bull.
How Much Does It Cost To Maintain A Lamborghini Gallardo?
After the initial hype started fading away, the supercar changed hands a few times. Last time we heard about it, it fetched $1.32 million at auction a couple of years ago, and is now up for grabs again, with RMSothebys bringing it to the auction that takes place in Abu Dhabi on November 30. It still looks showroom fresh and has less than 200 km (124 miles) on the odometer, most of which were accumulated during the initial testing and the rest from little driving it ever did, mostly on concours lawns.
The auction house states that it’s a temporary import, so further taxes could apply, depending on where the winning bidder resides. No details about the estimated selling price have been made public, but we would not be surprised if it goes for well over $1 million. By comparison, the regular Gallardo Spyders are about 11 times cheaper.
