Automakers flock to the Super Bowl as the event is normally watched by more than 100 million people. Porsche is a notable exception as the company hasn’t aired a Super Bowl ad since 1997.
That’s changing next year as Ad Age reports Porsche will return to the spotlight with an all-new ad that features the 2020 Taycan.
Little is known about the commercial at this point, but it’s being handled by Cramer-Krasselt which has previously done a Super Bowl ad for Heinz ketchup. The firm also has a history with Porsche and has developed some unique campaigns including the “world’s first hologram print ad.”

That particular ad promoted the Porsche 911 and ran in a four page spread in Fast Company as well as Inc. magazine. Select issues came with an acetate prism which readers could put on a tablet and see a hologram detailing the history of the iconic sports car.
While little is known about the upcoming commercial, Porsche told Ad Age “The Super Bowl’s scale and energy make it a perfect venue for reaching new audiences—in a fun way that connects with the Super Bowl’s own themes of performance and competition.”
As for the Taycan, Porsche introduced the entry-level 4S variant at the Los Angeles Auto Show last week. It will go on sale in the United States next spring with a base price of $103,800 – excluding a $1,350 fee for processing, delivery and handling.
The model has a 79.2 kWh battery and two electric motors that produce a combined output of 523 hp (390 kW / 530 PS). The car can also be equipped with an optional Performance Battery Plus that has a capacity of 93.4 kWh and is accompanied by upgraded motors that develop 563 hp (420 kW / 571 PS).
Porsche hasn’t released ranges for the US market, but both 4S variants can accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
