Following the official reveal of the hardcore M2 CS, BMW Motorsport has announced its racing sibling that’s been (somewhat unimaginatively) named the M2 CS Racing.
The new M2 CS Racing is powered by the 3.0-liter straight-six S55 engine, producing between 280 HP and 365 HP, depending on the Balance of Performance or Permit B classification. Moreover, it sports a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that has been fitted with motorsport-spec software.
The new customer racer from BMW shares the same electronics with the bigger M4 GT4, including the ability to switch its output via power sticks depending on the aforementioned Balance of Performance. BMW Motorsport is already working on an upgrade package that will lift the engine’s output to 450 HP.

The M2 CS Racing also features a mechanical Drexler limited-slip differential with separate cooling, motorsport-grade wheel bearings for the rear axle, special engine mounting, three-level adjustable anti-roll bars and ZF Sachs motorsport dampers accompanied with three spring options.
“Using the perfect base of the BMW M2 CS and in close collaboration with BMW M GmbH colleagues, BMW Motorsport engineers used many of the insights from the development of the BMW M4 GT4 to set totally new standards in the entry-level class with its little brother, the BMW M2 CS Racing. I am confident that we will continue the success story of BMW M Customer Racing vehicles with this car,” said BMW Group Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt.
Prices start from 95,000 euros before taxes ($105k in current exchange rates) and the first deliveries are expected to take place from mid 2020. The new race car is compatible to compete in several series around the world, including the VLN Endurance Championship Nurburgring and the TC America.
