Most people who look for older family wagons with a bit of power underneath the hood, tend to focus on Audi Avants, sometimes even a BMW or two.
However, Sweden also has something worth considering in the form of the Volvo V70 R. This particular one is wearing Magic Blue over an Atacama leather interior, and is getting auctioned off through Bring a Trailer with 117,000 miles (188,000 km) on the clock.
It’s certainly been around a lot, that’s for sure. And yet, it also features a very interesting spec – mostly because its previous owner ditched the automatic transmission in favor of a M66 6-speed manual gearbox.

Other goodies include the rear spoiler, self-leveling headlights, headlight wipers, aftermarket BC coilovers, factory 6-piston front and 4-piston rear Brembo brakes and no roof rails, which makes the car look a lot sleeker. Inside, there is plenty of leather to go with the new shifter surround and knob – and then there’s the trunk-mounted subwoofer and the iPd boost gauge.
The power unit is a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-five with 295 HP (300 PS) and 300 lb-ft (406 Nm) of torque. The 6-speed manual gearbox was installed along with a new factory-spec clutch and hydraulics, while the turbo was reportedly replaced and an aftermarket blow-off valve added. Further mods include a custom intake and engine mounts, methanol injection and a custom ECU tune, although the ad doesn’t specify how much power it currently puts out.
