A big rig known as ‘Thor‘ and thought to be the “greatest custom heavy truck” ever built will be offered for sale from Worldwide Auctioneers at the company’s auction in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 23.
This truly insane truck started out life as a Peterbilt 359 crew cab semi that was immediately stretched to an insane 44 feet. With the customized frame complete, virtually ever part was chrome-plated or fitted with polished aluminum parts, including the entire driveline, hubs, brakes, and even select frame components.
Unique visual modifications made to the truck continue at the front where there is a 1933 Ford-style tribute grille featured alongside flared fenders. A custom paint scheme adorns the exterior while much of the roof is dominated by an array of air horns. Found at the back of the truck is a huge mural featuring Thor and complete with a polished aluminum sculpture that reads ‘THOR.’

As remarkable as the custom exterior bodywork is, it’s the powertrain that really makes Thor special. Powering the truck are two 852 cubic-inch diesel V12 engines arranged in a row and pumping out a combined 3,974 hp, figures you almost only ever see in high-end drag racers. The presence of these two engines allegedly makes Thor the “most powerful big rig ever built.” What’s more, Thor’s powertrain is said to be the largest engine ever installed in a street-legal vehicle. Thor also uses a Hawker jet engine as an auxiliary power unit.
It is unclear how much it cost to build Thor nor how much the auction house expects it to sell for. However, it’s fitting that the auction for the truck will be held in the Middle East as it’s perhaps the only place on earth where such a truck could look right at home.
