Driving a vehicle without insurance can get it seized in many parts of the world, UK included. This is a lesson learned the hard way last Thursday afternoon by a Lamborghini Urus driver, who caught the attention of a patrol in Manchester.
The man, whose age was not disclosed, did two mistakes: first, he jumped in the driver’s seat of the Italian super SUV with the only insurance being for his parents’ Volkswagen Golf, and second, he raced it in Stevenson Square.

While he was having fun, the driver was spotted by an armed unit on patrol and was pulled over. Upon checking the papers, the officers discovered that he was a named driver on the aforementioned German compact car, but not on the Urus.
As a result, they seized it, and now, the rightful owner, believed to be a member of the family, will have to head over to the pound with proof of ownership and insurance in order to reclaim possession. Should they fail to do so, then the police department could list it for auction. In more extreme cases, they send the seized cars to death row – aka the crusher, no matter the make and model.
In a social media post, the Greater Manchester Police said: “The driver of this Lamborghini felt the need to use Stevenson Square as a racetrack, in full view of a liveried firearms patrol. Turns out him being a named driver on his parents Golf didn’t cover him to drive the vehicle so it has been seized for no insurance.”
