Mountune’s VAG division, M52, has just launched a new power upgrade for the seventh-generation Golf GTI. This Stage 1 calibration will set buyers back £715, or approximately $926.
The upgrade comes with five distinct calibrations, including high-torque and low-torque versions for those who aren’t sure if they want to upgrade their clutch kit too. Other changes include a stock option, as well as a valet and anti-theft option that immobilizes your car when you’re not with it.
Peak output has been increased to 310 PS (305 HP) and 475 Nm (350 lb-ft) of torque, marking gains of 88 PS (87 HP) and 125 Nm (92 lb-ft). As a result, the Golf GTI’s 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time has been slashed from 6.4 seconds to 5.4 seconds.

“The m52 MK7.5 Golf GTI Stage 1 Upgrade is the latest development to come from m52,” said Mountune and M52 exec Alec Pell-Johnson. “We are still relatively new to the world of VW performance upgrades but using our knowledge and expertise gained from our time working with Ford vehicles, we have been able to produce a high-quality power upgrade that comes at an affordable price. We are looking forward to seeing the response from our ever-growing m52 community.”
The complete kit includes the mTune handset with the previously-mentioned five calibrations, but also a gauge display, adjustable shift-light, performance measurements, Datalogger, Fault-code reader, Zip-up case with mTune mount, OBD and USB cables, and an m52 badge.
All m52 products feature a 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty (whichever comes first) against manufacturing defects.
