Ford v Ferrari topped the weekend box office in the United States, and now fans can own the Ford GT40 used in the movie.

Since real GT40s are rare and expensive, the studio turned to Superformance to create a replica that was designed to mimic the car driven by Ken Miles at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.

This particular car was driven by Christian Bale during filming and is one of two replicas built for the movie. It’s also the so-called hero car, as it was used for close-ups due to its “incredible attention” to detail.

Power is provided by a Roush IR 427 V8 crate engine that has been bored out to displace 8.4-liters. It has also been equipped with a K&N Inglese-style induction system and a rear existing “bundle of snakes” exhaust. The engine produces 600 HP (447 kW / 608 PS) and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

Other performance features include specially tuned independent front and rear suspension. The front has unequal-length A-arms and the rear has trailing arms and unequal-length lateral arms, while an anti-roll bar and Bilstein shocks with H&R springs are found at both ends.

The model looks period correct and is equipped with Shelby American Halibrand-style wheels with knock-off hubs, as well as by disc brakes with Wilwood calipers.

The old school styling continues in the cabin as the right-hand drive car has retro gauges, a Motolita steering wheel and OEM-style seats covered in Alcantara upholstery.

According to Fox News, the car will be auctioned by Mecum in January and has been signed by Ken Miles’ son, Peter, as well as his 1966 crew chief Charlie Agapiou. Besides staring in the film, the car has also made appearances on the red carpet, EPSN and CBS Sunday Morning.
