The third-generation Ford Mustang (a.k.a. the Fox-body Mustang) may not have been as characterful as the original pony car but many saw it as a step forward compared to the Mustang II.
Built between 1978 and 1993, it’s by far the longest-running Mustang generation and that means there are still plenty of them on the road even today. However, chances are you may not find an example like this 1987 model anytime soon.
You see, this 1987 Mustang GT advertised on Craigslist has covered 1,194 miles (1,921 kilometers) from new, or at least that’s what the seller from Allentown, Pennsylvania says. Looking at the photos, we have no reason to doubt this claim as the car looks absolutely incredible.

How can a 32-year-old vehicle look as if it has just driven off the dealer lot? Well, besides not driving it at all (well, almost), the owner always kept it in a heated garage under a car cover and never took it out in the rain or bad weather.
It’s pretty obvious he has been waiting for the right time to sell it, as the third-generation Mustang still has the original window sticker and one could swear the interior was never touched by a human being except the folks who assembled it – and its owner, of course.
When dealing with a car with such a low mileage, many potential buyers are afraid they’re in for some costly repairs caused by the lack of use. Still, the seller says the Mustang was driven every year to keep those fluids running and lubricate the moving parts. Additionally, he kept the 4.9-liter naturally aspirated V8 away from ethanol gas, which is known to wreak havoc on older engines.
Mechanically, the car is said to run like new, matching the stunning condition of the Cabaret Red body and Sand Interior. If what you read so far failed to convince you, the fact that it’s the much sought-after five-speed manual model probably will. There’s just one problem, though: the seller asks $35,900 for it, which is roughly the price of a brand new 2020 Ford Mustang GT. Decisions, decisions…
