BMW has opened the order books for the M8 Competition Coupe and Convertible in the UK, announcing at the same time their pricing details.

The new BMW M8 Competition Coupe is priced from £123,435, with the Convertible variant commanding a £7,000 premium, at £130,435. Both models are more expensive than the four-door M8 Competition Gran Coupe variant, which retails from £120,935.

Power comes from a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that pumps out 616 HP (625 PS) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque and is paired to an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission. The M xDrive all-wheel drive system enables some pretty impressive acceleration figures, with the Coupe officially capable of a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.2 seconds and a 0-124 mph (200 km/h) in 10.6 seconds.

All models come with their top speed capped at 155 mph (250 km/h) but customers can raise it to 189 mph (304 km/h) if they opt for the M Driver’s Package.

The trick all-wheel drive system features an active M differential and can be disengaged, just like in the M5, after the driver switches off the Dynamic Stability Control. The chassis rides on M-specific adaptive dampers and features additional bracing, fatter anti-roll bars, the M Servotronic steering with a variable ratio, optional carbon brakes and more. A set of 20-inch forged alloy wheels is fitted as standard.

The interior is choked in kit as you would expect, including a pair of multi-adjustable M Sport seats, BMW’s latest Operating System 7.0 with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment system, the company’s Intelligent Personal Assistant and a head-up display with full color graphics, among other.
