The EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings for the all-new 2020 Escape Hybrid are out, making it the segment’s most fuel-efficient model.

The front-wheel-drive version delivers a combined fuel economy rating of 41 mpg (5.7 l/100 km) while the city rating is a remarkable 44 mpg (5.3 l/100 km). Both ratings are best-in-class but the highway rating isn’t bad either, at 37 mpg (6.3 l/100 km).

Ford calculates that the average American’s daily trip of 29 miles (47 km) can be made with the Escape Hybrid barely using a gallon of fuel (3.78 liters). This obviously means fewer gas station stops and less money spent on fuel.

The front-wheel-drive 2020 Escape Hybrid has an EPA-estimated driving range per tank of 582 miles (937 km) – more than enough for a one-way trip from Sacramento to San Diego without stopping at the pump.

The available all-wheel-drive system brings a small fuel economy penalty, as it delivers an EPA-estimated 43 mpg (5.5 l/100 km) city and 40 mpg (5.9 l/100 km) combined. The highway rating of 37 mpg (6.3 l/100 km) is identical with the front-wheel-drive model, though the driving range is marginally lower, at 568 miles (914 km).

All 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid models equipped with the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster (standard on SE Sport and Titanium models) come equipped with a new EV coach feature. This gadget informs drivers when they’re using electric or hybrid power, allowing them to adjust their driving style according to their power needs.

The all-new Ford Escape Hybrid is on sale now nationwide with prices starting from $29,595 for the SE Sport model.
