Mazda is prepping a few updates for the 2020 CX-3, which will drop two of the three trim levels available in the 2019MY.
Quoting early order guides, CarsDirect reports that the Japanese subcompact crossover will only be offered in the Sport trim level in the United States, whereas the mid-spec Touring and top-of-the-line Grand Touring will be phased off completely.

The 2020 CX-3 Sport will, however, gain more standard features, as it will benefit from the i-ActivSense suite of driver assistance features. The package includes automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, radar-guided cruise control with stop & go and high beam control. Moreover, it features dusk-sensing LED headlights with auto-leveling, LED taillights, automatic windshield wipers and climate control. Mazda will also add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.
Pricing of the outgoing CX-3 Sport starts at $20,390, while the Touring and Grand Touring will set you back $22,475 and $25,745, respectively, excluding destination charge and dealer fees. The 2020MY will reportedy kick off at $21,685, with destination, and in spite of the price hike, it will remain more affordable than the CX-30, which can be had from $22,945, including destination.
With the 2020MY update, Mazda is trying to better fill the gap between the CX-3 and CX-30, making the former a better value for money compared to its predecessor. Furthermore, it could also push some customers towards the compact model, which boasts more power, is slightly larger and has more cargo space, as well as a redesigned interior.
