In time for its 10th anniversary, Nissan has updated the Leaf, giving it new driver assistance systems, connected features and colors.
Set to launch in Japan in February, the 2020 Leaf brings an improved ProPilot, with optimized speed control and park system. Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention is also available for the first time, and the electric hatchback can be equipped with Canto, the company’s signature projected sound that assists the awareness level of pedestrians and others in traffic.
Another novelty is the introduction of a new EV function for the Door-to-Door Navigation. Over-the-air map updates are supported and the Docomo in Car Connect turns the cockpit into a Wi-Fi zone. Google’s search tools have been introduced for the first time in a Nissan and users can access the My Car Check/Remote Door Lock app to double check whether they locked the doors – and if they haven’t, they can do so remotely. The status of the Leaf can be checked as well using a dedicated app.

For the 2020MY, the Leaf comes with standard 9-inch infotainment system, which provides a more user-friendly interface. Furthermore, customers can choose from two new colors named Vivid Blue and Stealth Gray, and all grades get a shark fin antenna.
The Leaf Autech Edition has been updated too and will launch at dealerships across Japan from February, with the same driver assistance features of the base Leaf, as well as a unique paint finish that combines Aurora Flare Blue Pearl with a Super Black roof.
Pricing for the base Leaf in its home market starts at 3,326,400 yen ($30,409), whereas the Autech can be had from 4,094,200 yen ($37,428).
