Audi Sport has done an outstanding job at tuning and refining the latest TT RS, as the sports car has proved quicker at Hockenheim GP circuit than the first-gen R8 4.2 FSI.
With SportAuto’s Uwe Sener behind the wheel, the timed lap showed the TT RS run across the finish line in 1:57.70. According to FastestLaps, the R8 4.2 FSI did it in 2:00.65 – so, the smaller car has a clear advantage over its sibling.
The old Porsche 911 GT3 RS and new BMW Z4 M40i posted 1:59.10 and 1:59.50 laps respectively, and the BMW M2 Competition, Aston Martin Vantage and Chevrolet Corvette Z06, to name but a few, were a couple of tenths of a second slower.

These are all unofficial lap times unrecognized by any automaker, most of which were obtained with Sener at the helm.
Now, should the latest TT RS tickle your fancy, then you’re looking at a starting price of $67,600 in the United States. It comes with an aggressive body kit, 19-inch alloy wheels, sporty interior complete with leather and Alcantara, and RS-tuned steering, suspension, brakes and exhaust.
Its highlight is, of course, its 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine that puts out 394 hp (400 PS / 294 kW) and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque, which are directed to the Quattro all-wheel drive system via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. From 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h), the TT RS needs 3.6 seconds and it maxes out at 155 mph (250 km/h).
