The upcoming BMW 4-Series Coupe has been spied in the midst of testing and while we’ve known that the car was just around the corner for quite some time, these images confirm what we had long suspected; the 4-Series Coupe will feature a gargantuan front grille like the Concept 4 from a few months ago.
From the moment the BMW Concept 4 was presented, debate has been raging about BMW’s new-found love of massive kidney grilles. The Concept 4 looked seriously good but to our eyes but the grille ruined much of the design.
These shots reveal that the grille of the production model will be largely the same as the Concept 4 but appears slightly more angular and perhaps just a touch smaller. Whatever the case may be, it’s there and we can’t stop looking at it.

If you are able to pry your eyes away from the grille, you will notice that the 4-Series Coupe has slim and sharp headlights just like the Concept 4, inevitably giving the front end a very aggressive look. Spin around to the rear and we can also see that taillights similar to the concept’s are present, adding to what promises to be a very sleek design (kidney grilles excluded…). It looks very much like a baby version of the 8-Series and that’s no bad thing.
The new BMW 4-Series Coupe will use the same engines as the current 3-Series family. As such there will be a number of four- and six-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines on offer, as well as a plug-in hybrid. Performance fanatics will be pleased to know that an M4 is also being developed with the same twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine of the X3 M and X4 M models complete with up to 503 hp.
BMW will present the 4-Series Coupe to the world in 2020 before customer deliveries start later in the year.
