After the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia, earlier this year, the Brabham BT62 has broken the lap record at yet another track: The Bend – West Circuit.

Dressed in racing livery and with Aussie pro driver Ash Walsh behind the wheel, it completed the 3.4-kilometer (2.1-mile) long course in an impressive 1:15.0214 over the weekend, in temperatures peaking at 39C (102F).

“I missed the hairpin a little bit and dropped a bit of time as the tires were cold and the brakes were not up to temperature, but overall I was really happy with it in the end”, said Walsh. “It’s great to get out here and be involved in the event – the first one at The Bend. It’s the first win for the car on Australian soil and it was great to get the car out in front of everyone, to get it amongst the people to show what it’s about.”

Tipping the scales at 972 kg (2,143 lbs), the BT62 is powered by a 5.4-liter naturally aspirated V8. The engine kicks out 700 horsepower and 666 Nm (491 lb-ft) of torque and comes paired to a six-speed sequential transmission that delivers the output to the rear axle. No matter if they’re street-legal or not, all versions of Brabham’s hypercar pack the same engine. As for pricing , you’re looking at £750,000 ($986,383/€891,492) in the United Kingdom, excluding tax, for the stripped out Competition variant.
