The unveiling of the Tesla Cybertruck didn’t go according to plan as the unbreakable “armor glass” windows were accidentally smashed by designer Franz von Holzhausen.
The mishaps continued over the weekend as Elon Musk got into a minor accident while leaving a trendy Japanese restaurant in Malibu.
According to TMZ, the outspoken executive visited Nobu on Saturday and valets left the uniquely styled pickup in front of the restaurant so visitors could snap photos of the truck. The prime parking spot also allowed Musk to easily showcase the truck to actor Edward Norton who was apparently dining at the establishment.

However, things took a turn for the worse when Musk left the restaurant. As you can see in the video above, the Cybertruck’s rear fender took out a plastic pylon as he pulled out of the parking lot. The crash doesn’t appear to have damaged either the truck or the pylon but, as Gizmodo pointed out, several Twitter users noted the pylon was roughly the same size as a small child.
In related news, members of the Cybertruck Owners Club have spotted a Cybertruck in and around Los Angeles. One of the photos was taken at Nobu, while the others were taken elsewhere.
As we have previously reported, the Cybertruck will be offered in three configurations. The entry-level model has a single motor and rear-wheel drive, while the mid-level variant has two motors and all-wheel drive. The range-topping Cybertruck ups the ante by adding a third electric motor.
Depending on the configuration, the truck promises to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in less than 2.9 seconds and have a range in excess of 500 miles (805 km). The truck also sports a 17-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a towing capacity of more than 14,000 lbs (6,350 kg).
