The long-awaited Fisker Ocean will premiere at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at the start of January. In addition, the company has announced a partnership with Electify America that will provide Ocean owners with access to the largest open DC fast-charging network in the United States.
From what we know of the Ocean, it will feature an 80 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and be good for a range of 250 to 300 miles (402-483 km). In news that is bound to excite prospective customers, the Ocean will be capable of gaining more than 200 miles (320 km) of range with just 30 minutes of charging.
Bold Looks: Fisker Names Its Affordable Electric SUV ‘Ocean’, Shows More Of It
“I have been eagerly waiting to show our revolutionary Fisker Ocean luxury SUV to the public, so we decided to debut the full prototype – reflecting the actual production vehicle – at CES 2020,” chief executive Henrik Fisker said in the announcement.
“The world will get to see the fully-engineered vehicle, which rides on a production-ready platform – signaling our intent to get it to market efficiently. I’m also very excited about our partnership with Electrify America, which enables Fisker driver access to the largest open DC Fast charging network in the USA – with approximately 800 charging stations and about 3,500 chargers across 45 states by 2021.”
We also know that the Ocean will receive a full-length solar roof to boost efficiency. In fact, Fisker estimates the solar roof can provide up to 1,000 miles (1,610 km) of free range per year. All Ocean models will also come with a so-called ‘California Mode’ that will provide occupants with a “fresh air and an open feeling without being in a convertible.” More details of the ‘California Mode’ will be announced next week, although it appears to be a panoramic sunroof with a fancy name.
