While BMW and Tesla shout about their sales on Twitter, Ford has taken a low key approach by revealing details about the Mustang Mach-E in a press release.
The company declined to say how many pre-orders they have received, but the automaker confirmed they’re no longer accepting reservations for the Mach-E First Edition.
The First Edition was the second most expensive Mach-E as it started at $59,900 before incentives. For that lofty price, buyers will be rewarded with unique contrast stitching, “First Edition” scuff plates and brushed aluminum pedals. The model also has red brake calipers and can be ordered in exclusive Grabber Blue Metallic paint.
On the performance front, the First Edition has a 98.8 kWh battery pack which powers two electric motors that produce a combined output of 333 hp (248 kW / 338 PS) and 417 lb-ft (565 Nm) of torque. The crossover also has a range of approximately 270 miles (435 km) on a single charge.

Speaking of variants, Ford said nearly 30% of customers are opting for the range-topping Mach-E GT which starts at $60,500. Designed to be the sportiest of the group, the model has a unique exterior with carbonized gray grille and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels.
Besides some special styling touches, the GT has an upgraded powertrain that produces around 459 hp (342 kW / 465 PS) and 612 lb-ft (830 Nm) of torque. The motors are feed by a 98.8 kWh battery pack and Ford says they will enable the crossover to rocket from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in the mid-three second range. That’s pretty impressive, but range takes a hit as the model can only travel around 235 miles (378 km) before needing a charging station.
Other highlights from today’s announcement include the fact that most customers are skipping over the base model. In particular, Ford noted more than 80% of U.S. customers are opting for the extended range [98.8 kWh] battery and roughly 55% are selecting all-wheel drive.
Unsurprisingly, more than 25% of reservations are from California and Carbonized Gray is the most popular color choice at 38%. Speaking of colors, the next two most popular hues are Grabber Blue Metallic (35%) and Rapid Red (27%).
