Ineos Automotive has finally found a partner that will help them bring the Grenadier to life: Magna Steyer.
Magna Powertrain has already signed the development of the chassis and suspension of the off-roader, which will use turbocharged six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines supplied by the BMW Group.
Speaking of the partnership with Ineos, Magna Steyr’s President of Complete Vehicle Manufacturing and Engineering, Frank Klein, said: “Magna is in a unique position with our complete vehicle knowledge. Because of our expertize, we can continue to support traditional automakers, while also becoming the go-to supplier for new players entering the space. We are excited to help Ineos Automotive bring the Grenadier to reality.”

Ineos’ CEO, Dirk Heilmann, added: “The transition from concept to series development is a major landmark in the evolution of the Grenadier. We are pleased to have Magna, with their long heritage and experience in 4×4 development, with us for the next stage of the journey. With our production plans recently confirmed, we now move into all-important series development and start to set our sights on the start of production.”
Founded by Jim Ratcliffe, the UK-based company will assemble the Grenadier at its new facility located in Bridgend, South Wales, which will become home to 500 employees. The first units are scheduled to roll off the assembly line in 2021. Subsequently, the off-roader, which is inspired by the previous-gen Land Rover Defender, will launch in global markets including the United States, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa.
