Ford kicked things up a notch by putting Ken Block in the driver’s seat of the Mustang Mach-E. Block is used to thrashing cars and performing all sorts of stunts in front of the camera, but this time he was instructed to “keep the shiny part up” – which he promptly did.

According to Block himself, this was his first time behind the wheel of an electric car. Since this was a camouflaged prototype, it makes us believe that the video was shot before the official unveiling that was hosted last month. Block also had his crew with him, so sitting on the rear bench were the former Stig, Ben Collins, professional racer Billy Johnson and actress Molly McQueen.

While the car remained in one piece at the end of the short drive, Block had a hard time hiding his enthusiasm. “I’m impressed”, he said, as he was checking out the steering wheel. “That’s the first time I’ve ever actually driven an electric car.” It’s the instant torque that gets you, so who knows, maybe we’ll see an Elekhana in the future, if not in the Mustang Mach-E, then perhaps in something else.

After all, there are plenty of fish in the pond that can would qualify for the job, and reinforcing the chassis, squeezing out more power and applying a racing livery is very much doable. Nonetheless, it’s the battery pack that probably needs the most work, as nobody wants to plug it in after only a few minutes of extreme driving.
