Kia e-Niro First Edition Dropped, ‘4’ Grade Takes Its Place

As the e-Niro is entering the second year of production, Kia has made a few updates to the lineup.

Replacing the previous ‘First Edition’ is the new ‘4’ trim level, which has already launched in the United Kingdom. Pricing for this model starts at £37,995 ($50,639/€45,519), which drops to £34,495 ($45,974/€41,326) after the PiCG, and is offered with a 7-year/100,000 miles (160,934 km) warranty, whichever comes first.

Boasting a generous list of equipment, the new e-Niro 4 comes with LED headlights with bi-function projection, battery heating system and an assortment of driver assistance gear. This includes Lane Keep Assist, Lane Follow Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Hill-Start Assist, alongside 7 airbags.

On the inside, the Korean automaker has added a 10.25-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system that features satellite navigation with telematics and UVO Connect Services. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, DAB radio, JBL premium sound system with eight speakers, wireless charging pad for compatible smartphones, automatic air conditioning, keyless entry & go, electronic parking brake, heated front seats and steering wheel, black leather upholstery and others are all standard.

The e-Niro packs a 201 PS (198 hp / 148 kW) and 395 Nm (291 lb-ft) of torque electric motor, powered by the 64 kWh battery that gives it a 282-mile (454-km) range in the WLTP test cycle. The battery supports 100 kW fast-charging, which allows it to be recharged from 0 to 80 percent in 54 minutes. Nought to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) takes a very decent 7.5 seconds and flat-out, it will do 104 mph (167 km/h).
