Kia wants to follow the success of the Soul EV and e-Niro with an electric version of the newly introduced Seltos.
The crossover that slots between the Soul and Sportage in the Korean firm’s lineup might get an electric powertrain, TheKeea reports, which should be shared with its zero-emission brethren.

This means a 201 horsepower (204 PS / 150 kW) electric motor, juiced up by a 64 kWh battery. In this form, the Soul EV has a 280-mile (452-km) range and the e-Niro 301 miles (485 km) in the WLTP test cycle. The two EVs are also offered with a standard 39.2 kWh battery, which gives them a 172- and 193-mile (277-312 km) range, respectively, and a 134 hp (136 PS / 100 kW) motor.
The report claims that Kia won’t launch the Seltos EV in markets outside Asia. Thus, don’t expect it in Europe and North America, but rather in South Korea, likely followed by India. With China demanding more zero-emission cars, it’s quite possible that it will launch there, too.
Production of the Seltos EV (name unconfirmed), which is apparently known as the SP2 EV internally, has allegedly been set to commence in the company’s home market in August, 2020. Less than 10,000 examples are expected to be made in the first year, yet depending on demand, the numbers could be boosted.
