In an era where more and more performance cars are adopting hybrid powertrains, using forced induction, or powered exclusively by electricity, the 2020 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster is much more traditional.
Lamborghini is remaining true to its roots and as such, the Aventador SVJ Roadster is powered by a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine delivering 759 hp and 531 lb-ft (720 Nm) of torque. This engine is coupled to a seven-speed ISR transmission and an all-wheel drive system that makes for a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 2.9 seconds, while 124 mph (200 km/h) passes in 8.8 seconds.
During his most recent review, Matt Farah jumped behind the wheel of a bright blue example that looks truly tremendous.

One particularly interesting thing Farah discusses is the ride quality of the SVJ Roadster. When looking at a vehicle like this, one could be forgiven for thinking it would have an incredibly harsh ride and be virtually undrivable along bumpy roads. That’s not the case and the supercar is actually surprisingly compliant. Another nice feature of the SVJ is its use of a four-wheel steering system that improves agility at low speed and makes for better stability at high speeds.
Lamborghini is building just 800 examples of the Aventador SVJ Roadster worldwide so only a select few will ever have the chance to own one. Prices start at $573,966 in the United States, and with the Aventador’s successor set to pair a hybrid system to the V12 engine because, well, emission regulations, the SVJ Roadster could prove to be one of the last great Lamborghinis without electrification.
