The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has just published official MPG ratings for the plug-in hybrid 2020 Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring.
According to the EPA, the big SUV returns 23 MPG over the combined cycle in normal operation. As the Aviator Grand Touring is a plug-in hybrid, the EPA has published a figure of 56 MPGe in the combined cycle when accounting for the vehicle’s electric-only mode.
That figure is impressive for a plug-in hybrid although well down on some of the market’s leading all-electric cars, such as the Tesla Model 3 Long Range, Hyundai Ioniq Electric, Toyota Prius Prime, and Chevrolet Bolt that all return over 110 MPGe.
When operating in electric mode, the Aviator Grand Touring is good for 21 miles (33 km) of range which is more than enough for most small trips.
American Style: 2020 Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring Majors On Style, Luxury And Comfort
The 2020 Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring’s powertrain consists of a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine operating alongside an electric motor with 75 kW and a 13.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Combined, the SUV delivers a mighty 494 hp and 630 lb-ft (854 Nm) of torque, resulting in a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time of 5.5 seconds. You certainly won’t be out-pacing supercars in the Aviator but that’s more than quick enough for everyday use.
Then we get to the looks of the Aviator. We happen to think it is perhaps the best looking SUV on the market, both inside and outside. The exterior design is sharp and refined and looks more premium than some of the German competitors. Inside, there is everything you could want, including plush seats, a large central touchscreen infotainment system, pumping audio system, a panoramic sunroof, and much more.
Prices for the vehicle start at $68,800.
