Mint 2000 Audi TT Coupe 1.8 T Quattro Is A $19,650 Future Classic

The Audi TT as we know it will cease to exist in a couple of years and its iconic name will likely be given to an all-electric crossover.

If that’s not an enticing prospect for you, you can buy a new Audi TT while you still can or take a look at the used market. If you choose to do the latter and want to pick a car that will likely rise in value over the years, the original TT (Type 8N) built between 1998 and 2006 is your best bet.

Mind you, it’s not easy to find first-generation Audi TTs in top-notch condition given that the small sports car was very popular with boy racers and the tuning scene. But if you look hard enough you may be able to find gems like this all-original 2000 Audi TT Coupe 1.8 T quattro in showroom condition.

On sale at Holland’s Auto Leitner, this one-owner Audi TT looks like a delivery-mileage vehicle, despite having covered 28,176 kilometers (17,508 miles) from new. It’s a stunning car and it comes with complete dealer maintenance paperwork (stamped service booklet, invoices), TUV inspection reports, original storage folder for the owner’s manual and brochure, as well as four original keys.

When this coupe was built in 2000, it was the range-topping Audi TT model as the 250 PS (247 HP) 3.2 VR6 quattro arrived in 2003 and the 240 PS (237 HP) 1.8 T quattro Sport special launched in 2005.

The TT 1.8 T quattro features a transverse-mounted 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine rated at 225 PS (222 HP) at 5,900 rpm and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft) of torque available between 2,200 and 5,500 rpm.

In combination with the standard six-speed manual transmission and quattro Haldex all-wheel-drive system, the turbo-four unit enabled the sports coupe to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 243 km/h (151 mph). That’s quick even by 2019 standards.

As a range-topping model, the Audi TT 1.8 T quattro was well-equipped too. This particular car features goodies like automatic air conditioning, leather sports steering wheel, Audi Concert stereo system, heated front seats, folding rear seats, power mirrors and windows, Xenon headlights with washers, Light Silver Metallic paint, tinted glass and more.

You can make it yours for €17,750 ($19,650) or roughly half the price of a brand new 2019 Audi TT 40 TFSI quattro. Half the price for twice the character – that’s not even a choice, is it?
