Mitsubishi has announced its lineup for the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon and there’s not a single exhibit that the automaker couldn’t easily put into production.

The automaker will bring a total of seven custom creations based on five different production models: the eK Cross, Delica D:5, Outlander PHEV, Eclipse Cross and the upcoming Super Height K-Wagon.

Starting off with the smallest of the bunch, the Mitsubishi eK Cross Wild Beast Concept sends out a “playful outdoor image.” It sports SUV styling cues such as the black plastic cladding around the wheel arches and on the bumpers, bulky side skirts, grey accents on the roof, and Toyo Tires Open Country R/T all-terrain rubber.

We can also spot a roof rack that will probably become an official accessory for the kei car in Japan. The car adopts a yellow and black color scheme complete with grey “X” graphics on the sides.

Continuing the SUV theme is the Eclipse Cross Weekend Explore Specification which gives the crossover a more rugged appearance. This is achieved courtesy of accessories like the Air Force Suspension Japan performance kit which enables the user to raise and lower the ride height using a wireless remote control and smartphone application.

The versatile suspension works with Toyo Tires Open Country R/T all-terrain tires wrapped on Rays Team Daytona M9 off-road wheels. Rounding off the package is a roof rack and a “Weekend Explorer” app for the smartphone-linked display audio system.

Another exhibit is the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV NERV specification modified to function as a disaster relief vehicle. The highlight is the KYMETA u7 planar satellite antenna manufactured by Kymeta Corporation in the United States. Using the signal supplied by Sky Perfect JSAT Corporation, the antenna provides an Internet connection service via satellite communication.

Other special features include other disaster communication systems, a NERV body wrap and Toyo Tires Open Country R/T all-terrain rubber mounted on Crimson Lycan wheels. Given that it’s a plug-in hybrid vehicle, the Outlander PHEV NERV specification can temporarily supply power to disaster-struck communities.

Mitsubishi will also display two special custom models based on the Delica D:5 minivan. One is the Delica D:5 All Blacks that was used as a support car during the 2019 Rugby World Cup for the New Zealand team.

The black-painted vehicle features the All Blacks logo on the bonnet and tailgate, fern leaf symbol on the sides, and black Advan Racing RZⅡ rims shod with Geolandar X-AT G016 all-terrain tires by Yokohama.

Finally, the second custom Delica D:5 carries the signature of Terry Ito, a Japanese director, television producer, critic, and writer. He reimagined the minivan’s front fascia by adopting a longer bonnet that merges with the upper grille and a pair of round headlights instead of rectangular stock units.

The Delica D:5 by Terry Ito rides on retro-styled MLJ Daytona rims painted in the same light army green hue as the rest of the body, while Yokohama Geolandar CV G058 tires and tartan plaid seats complete the package.
