Before Mercedes came out with the S65 AMG, the W211 E55 AMG model used to be the carmaker’s fastest production sedan thanks to its supercharged 5.4-liter V8 spitting out 469 HP (476 PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque.

This particular example getting auctioned off through Bring a Trailer, is equipped with a custom Weistec supercharger, an aftermarket intercooler, a methanol system, upgraded exhaust, and an ECU tune. So yeah, it’s safe to assume that it’s packing even more muscle than stock. Unfortunately, the ad doesn’t specify the current power output, but we’re pretty sure it’s somewhere in the region of “very impressive”.

Since this is a 2006 model for the U.S. market, we assume it was built in 2005, or at least right before the 2006 mid-gen refresh, because it’s clearly missing the updated model’s new taillights. The front end however was taken from a 2007 E65 AMG, but don’t let that fool you – this is a pre-facelifted variant.

Speaking of looks, the exterior is finished in designo Mocha Black and features a carbon fiber front lip, side skirts, rear diffuser and trunk lid spoiler. The car also sits lower than stock thanks to its STAR suspension system, while the multi-piece 19-inch ADV.1 wheels have replaced the stock items.

As for the interior, there is Sand Exclusive Nappa leather on the seats, two-tone door panels, designo brown wood on the center console, doors and dash, plus a long list of equipment such as heated and ventilated front seats, power rear sunshade, six-disc CD changer, DVD-based navigation, parking sensors, cruise control, automatic climate control, active bi-xenon headlights with washers and more.

While the spec is pretty nice, this car is certainly not in mint condition aesthetically. On top of that, the “larger throttle body intermittently triggers the check engine light,” says the seller, while the catalytic converters touch the floor during “wide-open throttle”.

The good news is that it has a clean record with no accidents and, with five days left in the auction, the highest bid is below $13k. The bad news, that the odo shows 101k miles, of which 10k were added in the past year by its current owner. If you ask us, it’s a bit of a gamble, so the real question is are you brave enough?
