Nissan is on track to replace nearly every model in its crossover range for Europe within the next 18 months. Aside from the 2020 Juke, models such as the compact Qashqai and the mid-size X-Trail are due a generational change.
In an interview with Autonews Europe, Nissan’s European boss, Gianluca de Ficchy said that replacements to the Qashqai and X-Trail are coming between now and mid-2021.
Also coming is a new electric SUV, previewed by the Ariya concept (as seen in the gallery). The Ariya features dual electric motors at the front and one motor at the rear. It also comes with the automaker’s ProPILOT 2.0 driver assistance system, allowing for hands-off driving within a given lane.

As for which production-ready crossover is coming first, that would be the all-new X-Trail, which according to a source close to the company will arrive within the next six months. The same source claims that the new Qashqai will be presented in September, 2020, and will drop all diesel engines in favor of E-power hybrid technology.
We can look to the IMQ Concept in order to get an idea of what the all-new 2021 Qashqai might look like – getting this nameplate right is a must for Nissan, as this is a best-seller for them in Europe.
The same source said that Nissan’s electric crossover will debut either in late 2020 or early 2021, while another source claims that it will actually sit at the premium end of the SUV market, with a price tag between 50,000 to 70,000 euros, thus rivaling Ford’s Mustang Mach E.
In any case, Nissan is primed to feature one of the youngest passenger car line-ups of any brand in Europe in the coming 18 months.
