The driver of a truck in the town of Fenton, Michigan was lucky to escape a serious crash with just minor injuries after smashing into a highway overpass.
It is understood that the crash occurred on December 26th when the truck, which was hauling pickles, suffered some kind of steering failure as it was heading south on U.S. 23. Unable to control the truck, the driver could only sit back and watch as the truck careened off the road and slammed head-on into a concrete bridge above the highway.
Shortly after the semi came to a stop, the cab burst into flames. Fortunately, the driver had already exited the vehicle by then and ran to safety.

This video captured the aftermath of the crash and shows how the cab fire quickly spread to parts of the grass embankment. While a tow-truck appeared to swiftly respond to the scene, there were no police or fire crews on site by the end of the video.
Fenton Police Lt. Jeff Cross told Michigan Live that the crash did not shut down traffic on U.S. 23 although did briefly result in the closure of westbound Own Road and the exit ramp at Owen Road from the highway.
The day after the crash, teams of investigators cleared away the truck and made sure that the structure of the bridge was safe. The driver was not cited for the crash and spent a short amount of time at a local hospital for treatment.
