Authorities are searching for the driver of a Lamborghini Huracan who crashed the Italian exotic and left it abandoned on Angeles Crest Highway on Wednesday morning.
According to The Los Angeles Times, officers from the California Highway Patrol found the Huracan resting on its roof and with droplets of blood around it. It is understood that the car had been borrowed by a friend of the registered owner, NBC reports.
As the California Highway Patrol arrived on the scene, the Lamborghini’s hazard lights were flashing. Debris can be seen strewn across the road as can Oregon license plates.
Italian Success Story: It Took Lamborghini Only Five Years To Deliver 14,000 Huracans
Sergeant Adam Bender told the Los Angeles Times that police searched local hospitals for the driver, but to no avail. In addition, there were no security cameras near the crash site, leaving investigators with not “a lot to go on.”
It is difficult to ascertain the full extent of the damage in the video you’ll find below. What we can tell is that part of the front bumper and front quarter panel is missing, indicating that the Huracan made some kind of contact before it flipped onto its roof. And then, of course, there’s the roof itself, the deployed airbags, and lots of other things that will need fixing if the Italian supercar is not deemed a write-off by the insurance company.
The Huracan has been in production since 2014 and is the Italian marque’s entry-level supercar. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine which in base specification (prior to the facelifted Evo model arriving) pumped out 602 hp at 8,250 rpm and 413 lb-ft (560 Nm) of torque at 6,500 rpm.
