Porsche 935 Clubsport Clad In Gloss Carbon Fiber Looks Bonkers

Deliveries of the ultra-limited 2019 Porsche 935 Clubsport kicked off recently and a particularly eye-catching example with an exposed carbon fiber finish now happily resides in the U.S.

Porsche presented the 935 to the world with a throwback racing livery last year and offers customers a wide array of paint schems to choose from. Evidently, those with money to burn can also opt to have the carbon fiber panels left unpainted and instead covered in a gloss finish.

Fittingly, the expensive bodywork of this 935 has been covered in a paint protection film from Protective Film Solutions in California to protect it from stone chips and ensure it looks as good as new for years to come.

Just 77 examples of the new 935 Clubsport are bound for the production line. Each is based around the road-going 911 GT2 RS and therefore uses a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six delivering 690 HP. This engine is coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with rigid mounts that sends power to the rear wheels through a race-optimized limited-slip differential.

Porsche says the 935 Clubsport weighs 3,042 lbs (1,380 kg), although we suspect that figure is for examples that actually have painted body panels and the exposed carbon parts of this one may make it weighs slightly less. Not that it really matters with almost 700 horses at your disposal anyway…

Only the German automaker’s most prolific collectors are thought to have been offered the opportunity to buy the GT2 RS-based racer. Prices started at 701,948 euros, or about $815,000 in the U.S., and it didn’t take long for the entire run to be sold out.
