Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, a dizzying array of sports cars came out of Japan and one of the most eye-catching was the Nissan 300ZX, in particular, the Z32-generation model.
Built for 11 years, the Z32 300ZX was one of the most exotic-looking cars out of Japan, helped in no small part by the headlights it shared with the Lamborghini Diablo. The coupe (actually, targa) is not overly rare as more than 164,000 were made, with some 36,800 of those making it to the States. The convertible, on the other hand, was limited in production, with just over 3,800 being sold in the USA. With either one, it’s not very often that you come across an example in such impeccable condition and with so few miles on the clock as the car you see here.
Classic: Faster Than A Bugatti 262MPH Nissan 300ZX To Be Auctioned In Japan
Currently up for sale from Diamond Motorworks in Lisle, Illinois on eBay, this 300ZX is a convertible model and has only ever had one owner. It is painted in Black Emerald Pearl Metallic which has a nice green tinge to it and from both the outside and inside, looks almost new. There’s a good reason for that because the car has just 1,831 miles (2,946 km) under its belt and has clearly been garaged most, if not all, of its life.
Powering the car is Nissan’s 3.0-liter VG30DE V6 engine which sadly doesn’t have the twin-turbochargers of range-topping models. Power sits at 222 hp at 6,400 rpm and 198 lb-ft (268 Nm) of torque that’s sent through the rear wheels courtesy of a five-speed manual transmission – that’s a plus.
Low-mileage Japanese sports cars of this era are proving to be quite desirable among collectors and that’s clearly the case here, as evidenced by the $28,800 asking price.
