With a design more akin to something a 5-year-old would draw on a napkin rather than what you’d expect from a major automaker, the Tesla Cybertruck has ruffled more than a few feathers since its unveiling and been the subject of quite a lot of memes. It sure is a love it or hate it thing – and over in Russia, someone has already created a fully-functional replica.

The vehicle, recently snapped on the street and shared on Instagram in the video below, mimics the sharp exterior design of the Cybertruck quite nicely.

When the car comes into view, the first thing you’ll notice is that it features a fully-functional LED light bar stretching the rear much like the real thing. There’s no bed, so it’s not technically a pickup like the Cybertruck, but the angular windshield and roofline do a good job of copying those of the Tesla. We’re only offered a brief glimpse of the front end as the car filming passes but can see that it too features an LED light bar, just like Musk’s creation.

The Real Thing: Tesla To Launch Tri Motor Cybertruck In 2021, Base Model Delayed Until 2022

Unlike a recent Cybertruck replica that made quite a stir online in the U.S., this one doesn’t appear to have used cardboard for the body panels and actually features sheets of metal. What’s particularly impressive about the whole thing is that it only took the owner a few weeks to make a reality. Then again, it’s a very simple design, so that must have helped enormously.

Recently, Tesla informed California regulators that the Cybertruck will likely qualify as a ‘Class 2B-3’ medium-duty pickup truck. This means it will be competing against vehicles such as the Ford F-250, Ram 2500, and Chevrolet Silverado 2500, not the Ford F-150 that Tesla has been comparing it to in recent weeks.
