Apparently Tesla fans won’t sit around waiting for their favorite car maker to come out with scale models of the Cybertruck, as some of them have already created their own with the use of a 3D printer and plenty of patience.
Roger Kappler, a Tesla Model 3 owner, created the pictured scale model with working LED lights with the help of a 3D model that was available online. He then splitted the 3D model into smaller sections to make it printable.

The body of the scale model was 3D printed in white, a process that took around 24 hours of total printing time, and then sanded and spray painted in silver to match the show truck. For the windows, Kappler used gel filter plastic sheets that were cut to the desired shape. Both front and rear LED lights are powered by a pair of AA batteries mounted in the bed.
Kappler estimates that in addition to the 24 hours of printing, the scale model of the Tesla Cybertruck took around 15 hours of work and around $50 in materials – paint, plastic sheets, filament and some acrylic sheet for the lights among other.
Last time we checked, Tesla had received over 250,000 reservations for the Cybertruck; the company’s move to offer a production slot to fans and prospective customers for just $100 clearly worked, as it created a huge buzz around the brand’s first take on electric trucks.
Production of the Tesla Cybertruck won’t start for at least two more years, so if you want to have the most hyped truck in recent history -albeit in a slightly smaller scale- you can also do it, providing you have access to a 3D printer.
