A truck carrying a pair of new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500s sadly crashed on Tuesday in downtown Detroit.

Fox 2 Detroit reports that the Ford F-350 towing the trailer and the two Mustangs spun-out while going down a curved ramp connecting the Fisher Freeway and the Chrysler Freeway. With the driver unable to control the pickup, the rig aggressively jacknifed and flipped onto its side, leaving the two Mustangs hanging precariously.

Helicopter footage of the aftermath doesn’t provide us with much indication as to the severity of the damage sustained to the two Mustangs. With that being said, we can see that one of them, painted Iconic Silver, has had much of its front-end crushed by the out-of-control F-350. The second GT500 finished in Grabber Lime may have escaped with less damage but it’s hard to be certain.

“We’re aware of an accident involving a shipment of new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500s,” Ford said in a statement issued to The Drive. “We’re not aware of any injuries and have nothing further to share at this time.”

Authorities were forced to close northbound lanes on I-75 for a number of hours as they hauled away the Mustangs and the F-350.

Customer deliveries of the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 only recently kicked off and unfortunately, the owners of these two examples will have to wait a little bit longer before they can take delivery as the two are repaired.
