If you can spare the back seat in the refreshed Smart EQ range, then you could buy the ForTwo Coupe for less money than the Skoda Citigoᵉ iV.
The tiny electric hatchback with room for two starts at £16,850 (equal to $21,961 / €19,791 at current exchange rates) in the United Kingdom, including the plug-in car grant, while the base Citigoᵉ iV will set you back £16,955 ($22,097 / €19,915). The ForFour costs £17,285 ($22,527 / €20,302), while at £20,420 ($26,613 / €23,985), the ForTwo Cabriolet is the priciest of the range.
The lineup kicks off with the Passion Advanced, which is limited to the ForTwo Coupe and ForFour, and brings 15-inch alloy wheels, black fabric upholstery with double stitching in white, 7-inch infotainment system, navigation, Bluetooth, DAB radio, Android Auto, MirrorLink and automatic climate control.
The Pulse Premium is available for all body styles of the Smart EQ and adds 16-inch alloys, reversing camera, storage net on the center console and stainless steel pedals. The Coupe and ForFour also add a panoramic roof and sunblind.
Getting the 16-inch wheels with a Y-spoke pattern, LED headlights, ambient lighting, heated front seats, black fabric and leather upholstery and auto dimming rearview mirror requires upgrading to the Prime Exclusive.
Finally, the range is completed by the Edition 1 versions of the ForTwo Coupe and Cabrio, with their asphalt grey look, black grille and decals and Brabus spoiler, side sills and 16-inch alloy wheels with red accents.
Smart’s EQ models pack an 82 horsepower electric motor that powers the rear wheels through a single-speed transmission. All of them can travel for around 70 miles (113 km) on a single charge, at speeds of up to 81 mph (130 km/h). The battery features standard 22 kW charging, which lets users enjoy from 10 to 80 percent in under 40 minutes. It takes less than 6 hours to charge it up at home using a wall box.
