An image allegedly showing the rear end of the upcoming VW Golf MK8 GTI in its full production guise has surfaced on social media.
Instagram user Wilcoblok posted said image, showing a Golf MK8 bearing a slightly more aggressive body kit in true GTI fashion. This includes a more pronounced rear bumper with what looks like a small diffuser, a pair of circular taillpipes sitting on each end and a sizeable roof spoiler finished in black.
The pictured car also wears the same wheels with several test cars spotted over the previous months, further leading us to believe that this is the actual thing.

Just like the previous model, VW will offer four different variants of a “hot” Golf (at least in Europe): the petrol GTI, the diesel GTD and the plug-in hybrid GTE, with the range-topping R model to follow on a later date.
The latest reports suggest that Volkswagen will reveal the new Golf GTI in its final production form at the Geneva Motor Show this March, with the R model to break cover at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.
VW’s new hot hatch will continue using the EA888 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine, only here it will be tuned to produce 242 HP (245 PS) in its base form and 287 HP (290 PS) in the Clubsport variant. Both versions will still be offered with either a standard six-speed manual or an optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The eighth generation of the VW Golf GTI will be offered exclusively with the five-door bodystyle, as VW ditched the three-door body completely for this Golf generation. The US market is expected to welcome the new Golf GTI in 2021.
