Bentley saw its annual sales rise above 10,000 units for the seventh consecutive year in 2019, when they sold 5 percent more cars than in 2018.
Last year, the British automaker’s overall sales went up by 5 percent, with the Americas being the main market, as 2,913 units went there, compared to Europe’s 2,670 and China’s 1,940. The best-selling Bentley in 2019 was the Continental GT which, thanks to the addition of the V8 variant for the Coupe and Convertible, saw a 54 percent rise compared to the previous year. The Grand Tourer was followed by the Bentayga, which helped boost sales, witnessing an 18 percent increase. The luxury SUV set a sales record, with the Design Series, Speed and Hybrid models, as well as the ones developed by Mulliner, increasing to its appeal.
The Flying Spur was only recently renewed, so it barely contributed to the company’s overall results.
“Our sales performance reached over 11,000 customer deliveries for the fourth time in our 100-year history, plus it represents the seventh-consecutive year above 10,000 retail sales. This result was driven by strong demand in all regions, the successful launch of the Continental GT Convertible, plus the launch of five major derivatives and limited edition models during the year”, said Chairman and CEO Adrian Hallmark. “It’s remarkable that this achievement was largely without any sales of the Flying Spur, which historically has contributed 20 percent of our annual sales.”
