How much power does the new BMW M135i have? The answer depends on whom you’re asking.
According to BMW‘s official specs, the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine puts out 306 PS (302 hp / 225 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. That’s enough for the front-wheel drive-biased all-wheel drive hot hatch to do the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint in 4.8 seconds and max out at 250 km/h (155 mph).
Review: New M135i Has Plenty Of Talent But Doesn’t Feel Like A Traditional BMW
The body style, length of the wheelbase and power level puts it up against the Audi S3 Sportback and first-ever Mercedes-AMG A35. Both models are capable of similar performance, and if you want even more from a stock hot hatch, then you have to kick it up a notch and go for the RS3 Sportback or menacing AMG A45 S, as BMW doesn’t have a challenger to their likes.
Now, that’s a completely different story altogether, so back to our original question: how much power does the 2020 M135i have? According to EvolveAutomotive, who got their hands on one of their customers’ cars and strapped it to the dyno, the answer is almost the same as advertised by BMW. Well, almost goes for the output part and a tad more for the torque level.
We won’t spoil the result, as you have to watch the short video to find out, but it seems that this time the manufacturer has got its numbers pretty much spot-on.
