An insane Toyota Tacoma dreamed up by designer Jon Sibal has been brought to life thanks to a team including Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and might just be one of the wildest pickup trucks on earth.

The vehicle has been coming together in recent months and has been built with drifting, rallycross, and road racing in mind. Much of the build will be chronicled on the TwinTurbo show on the Discovery Channel and we’re sure it will make for thrilling viewing.

While the pickup in question appears to have started its life like any other Tacoma, virtually nothing of the standard pickup remains, except for the passenger cell and front crash structure. From there, the custom fabrication commenced and includes an all-new steel frame and a full roll cage. A bespoke bed was also crafted for the Tacoma and it has been fitted with custom body panels including new bumpers and flared wheel arches.

The most striking element of the truck’s exterior is perhaps the wild roof scoop that stretches into the bed right above the race fuel cell. Remarkably, it took just 90 days to build the truck.

What’s even more impressive than the distinct body is the fact that the Tacoma, or as it’s known on Instagram as ‘The Performance Truck,’ features a TRD NASCAR V8 engine churning out roughly 900 hp. During early testing, it sounds absolutely bonkers. Comments on one of the Instagram posts of the truck asserts that it will be featured in Forza Horizon 4.
