What if Ford offered the original Bronco with a Raptor off-road performance treatment in the 1960s?
Mind you, the first-generation Bronco did get an optional off-road racing-inspired ‘Baja’ package featuring quick-ratio power steering controlled via a padded steering wheel, automatic transmission, fender flares, Gates Commando tires, a roll bar and reinforced bumpers.
Obviously, a Raptor package for the classic Ford Bronco would take things even further, as automotive illustrator Abimelec Design demonstrates in a new set of renderings we would love to see turned into reality by a crafty builder. With the hype surrounding the Bronco name lately, chances are it would be a solid business.

While the vintage Bronco’s biggest available engine was the 302 (4.9 liter), the hypothetical Bronco Raptor is envisioned with Mustang-sourced 390-cu in (6.4-liter) FE big block V8 motor making 320 hp and hooked to a four-speed manual transmission. Think of it as the ‘Boss 302’ equivalent for off-roading.
It also gets wider fenders filled with chunkier tires, raised ride height, flashy colors and black stickers. Speaking of the stickers, they are designed to fit the era and bring some character with a little Velociraptor mascot joining the Raptor name.
To make things more interesting, Abimelec Design even created a “classic” print advertisement for the Bronco Raptor. Now, all that’s left for you to do is choose your favorite color from the available red, gold, green and blue, and set off exploring your favorite trails in your imaginary Bronco Raptor.
