The crazed SSC Tuatara will be showcased at the Philadelphia Auto Show from February 7th and is sure to turn heads and drop jaws.
According to The Drive, the Tuatara heading to Philadelphia will be the first customer-owned example and a teaser shows that it will be painted black with red accents. Curiously, SSC had committed to delivering the first Tuatara at last year’s Monterey Car Week but it appears as though that didn’t happen.

Sitting at the heart of the Tuatara is a 5.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 from Nelson Racing Engines that features a flat-plane crank and churns out a monstrous 1,750 hp when running on E85. Filled with 91 octane fuel, the engine is still good for 1,350 hp. SSC hasn’t released performance figures for the hypercar but has previously said that it hopes to crack the 300 mph (482 km/h) barrier. When such a top speed run could take place remains up in the air.
Coupled to the highly-strung engine is a custom seven-speed transmission with hydraulically-driven components said to provide blisteringly-fast gear changes. Like the original SSC Ultimate Aero TT, the Tuatara is all-wheel drive, similar to its rivals the Koenigsegg Jesko and Hennessey Venom F5, but unlike the all-wheel drive Bugatti Chiron.
Those attending the Philadelphia Auto Show will find the Tuatara displayed alongside a number of other hypercars in a cordoned-off area that’ll include an Ultimate Aero. Those who want to enjoy a closer look of the vehicle can book an appointment.
