A gorgeous 1967 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500E Super Snake recreation is being auctioned off by Barrett-Jackson next week in Scottsdale, Arizona.

In 2001, the great Carroll Shelby authorized Unique Performance from Dallas to build 75 GT500E Continuation Super Snake models. While Unique Performance did start selling, building, and delivering these cars, it filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in late 2007, bringing the project to a screeching halt. In the end, just 43 cars were completed. This is number 23.

The listing says that this GT500E Super Snake was delivered to its owner in 2006 before being returned to Unique Performance to be serviced in 2007. Unfortunately, the company entered bankruptcy when the car was in its shop so it ended up in the custody of the Texas State Police.

Eventually, the Super Snake was released and sent to Revved Automotive Performance for a service and repairs to damage it suffered while held by police.

Powering the car is a 427 cubic-inch Shelby Performance V8 engine that’s been bored out to 482 cubic-inches (7.9-liters) and adorned with a Vortech supercharger. Mated to this engine is a five-speed manual transmission powering the rear wheels. The car even features a NOS tank in the trunk. No power figures are listed.

Making the car all the more desirable is the fact that it features Carroll Shelby’s signature on the dashboard, an authentication letter, and full documentation. The Raven Black and red paint scheme also make it one of the most striking classic Shelby Super Snakes on earth. It will be auctioned off with no reserve.
