A rare New Stratos will be auctioned off by Bonhams in Paris in February and is expected to sell for between $780,000 and $1 million.
Manifattura Automobili Torino (MAT), the company responsible the New Stratos, only intends on manufacturing 25 units worldwide. The example in question is the first one it created and has only been driven 3,000 km (1,864 miles) since its transformation.
Watch: The New Stratos Is As Exciting To Drive As It Is To Look At
All New Stratos start with the underpinnings and powertrain of a Ferrari 430 Scuderia. To make the car a fitting successor to the legendary original Lancia Stratos, MAT shortens the wheelbase by 200 mm (7.87-inches) and stiffens up the passenger cell with steel tubing. Found behind the cabin is Ferrari’s iconic 4.3-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine uprated to 540 hp, some 37 hp more than a standard 430 Scuderia.
This modern recreation also happens to weigh 110 lbs (50 kg) less than the car it is based on. A six-speed manual transmission with a gated shifter completes the compelling driving package.
This particular New Stratos started out life as a 2009 430 Scuderia that the client supplied with 30,000 km (18,641 miles) on the clock. The car’s transformation was finished last year and it was first registered for the street on the 25th of March, 2019. It is painted in white with an Alitalia livery and comes outfitted with rally-inspired driving lamps at the front.
MAT charges no less than 500,000 euros ($554,000) for the conversion, excluding the price of actually supplying a Ferrari 430 Scuderia.
