Maruti Suzuki has teased a new electric crossover concept named the Futuro-e that will be unveiled at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020 in India running from February 7-12.
A teaser image released of the electric vehicle indicates that it will be a sleek crossover complete with sharp LED headlights and taillights as well as a seductive roofline.
Quizzed by Indian Autos Blog about the Futuro-e Concept, senior executive director of engineering for Maruti Suzuki India, Mr. CV Raman said, “The design of Concept FUTURO-e is a fascinating fusion of a coupé with a SUV. Offering a sneak peek into future of design, Concept Futuro-e represents Maruti Suzuki’s vision for the Indian automobile market,” Raman continued.

While the design of the crossover previewed in this teaser image looks promising and very much fitting of a concept car, it seems apparent that the local car manufacturer intends on launching a production version. This model will inevitably undergo alterations before being given the thumbs up for the market.
Suzuki’s Indian arm hasn’t provided any details on the study’s electric powertain ahead of the show. A production version would likely be designed around gasoline engines, though the company could eventually offer an electrified version as well.
It is claimed that a Toyota-badged version of the crossover could follow in 2021.
